Fiscal Flowcast for Small Businesses
Fiscal Flowcast for Small Businesses
Whether you're a freelancer, sole trader, or running a small team, Fiscal Flowcast gives you a single view of your business finances — income, expenses, cash flow, and forecasts — without the overhead of enterprise accounting software.
Step 1 — Set up your business entity
Every business in Fiscal Flowcast lives inside an entity. An entity keeps your business finances cleanly separated from any personal accounts you might also track.
- Go to Settings > Entities and create a new entity for your business.
- Give it a recognisable name (e.g. "Acme Consulting Ltd").
- Switch to that entity using the entity switcher at the top of any page.
See also Managing entities.
Step 2 — Connect your business bank account
On Basic or Premium, link your business current account (and any credit cards) via Plaid so transactions import automatically. Free accounts enter transactions by hand. Linking saves manual entry and keeps records current.
See How to link your bank account for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Step 3 — Categorise your income and expenses
Fiscal Flowcast auto-categorises most transactions. Review and correct any mis-categorised items so your reports reflect the true picture of the business. Set up income allocation rules to automatically split recurring income across categories (e.g. tax reserve, operating expenses, owner draw).
See Transaction tracking and Income allocation rules.
Step 4 — Set a budget
Create a monthly budget for your key expense categories (marketing, software, contractors, etc.) so you always know where you stand against your spending plan. Fiscal Flowcast highlights budget overruns in real time.
See Budgets.
Step 5 — Forecast your cash flow
Add your recurring income (client retainers, subscriptions) and expenses (rent, payroll, SaaS tools) as recurring transactions. The forecast engine will project your cash position weeks or months ahead, flagging any potential shortfalls before they become a problem.
See Financial forecasting and Recurring transactions.
Recommended plan
Most small businesses use Basic ($9.99/month or $99.99/year) for unlimited accounts, the cash flow forecast, and up to 3 workspaces. Premium ($19.99/month or $199.99/year) adds unlimited workspaces and saved named scenarios. See Plans and limits for a full feature comparison.
