Recurring Transactions
Recurring Transactions
Recurring transactions represent income or expenses that repeat on a schedule (e.g. rent, salary, subscriptions). Setting them up improves forecasting accuracy and saves time.
Where to manage them
- Money → Transactions → Recurring (/recurring): combined list and calendar of repeating income and expense lines.
- Money → Transactions → Income (/income): paycheck rules and income sources.
- Money → Transactions → Bills (/bills): upcoming due dates and planning (hypothetical forecast lines).
You can also open the same surfaces from Transactions tabs (Recurring | Income | Bills) or from Cash Flow tabs: Forecast (Basic) | Recurring | Bills | Income.
When to Use Recurring
- Income: Paychecks, dividends, rental income
- Expenses: Rent, utilities, subscriptions, loan payments
- Transfers: Regular savings or investment contributions
Investment accounts
Open Find Recurring on a brokerage to scan for repeating contributions and cash dividends. Reinvested dividends stay in the account's expected growth rate (total return: price + yield). Cash dividends you take out become Recurring Income on a checking or savings account — not extra yield on the brokerage rate, and not a bill. Brokerage contributions add to the investment forecast; they do not appear on Bills.
Add a Recurring Transaction
- Open Money → Recurring (or go to /recurring)
- Add a recurring line with amount, schedule, and description
- Or go to Add recurring transaction and set the frequency
- Save so it appears in forecasts and reports
Tips
- Keep due dates accurate so cash flow projections are reliable
- Review the Recurring page periodically to add new lines or remove old ones
- Use categories consistently for easier reporting
