Fiscal Flowcast for Pre-Retirees & Retirees

Fiscal Flowcast for Pre-Retirees & Retirees

In retirement, the financial question shifts from how do I accumulate wealth? to how do I make it last? Fiscal Flowcast gives you a clear view of your income streams, expense patterns, and — most importantly — your withdrawal runway.

To estimate a FIRE number, retirement date, and whether withdrawals last, open the Retire Early wizard.

Step 1 — Consolidate your income streams

Add the accounts that contribute to your retirement income — pension accounts, investment portfolios, rental income accounts, Social Security deposits — so every dollar flowing in is visible in one place.

See Account management and How to link your bank account.

Step 2 — Monitor your expenses

After your first month of data, review the category breakdown to understand your true spending pattern in retirement. Healthcare, housing, travel, and gifts often look different from working years.

Set up a budget for categories you want to keep within bounds — this gives you an early warning if spending is running ahead of income.

See Budgets and Transaction tracking.

Step 3 — Understand cash flow vs net worth

Two numbers matter most in retirement: your monthly cash flow (income minus expenses) and your net worth (total assets minus liabilities). Fiscal Flowcast tracks both so you can see whether your portfolio is growing, stable, or being drawn down faster than intended.

See Cash flow vs net worth and Understanding insights.

Step 4 — Forecast your withdrawal runway

Add all regular withdrawals — living expenses, one-off planned costs, tax payments — as recurring transactions. The forecast engine projects your cash position forward, showing how long your assets will last at your current withdrawal rate. Adjust assumptions to model different scenarios.

See Financial forecasting and Recurring transactions.

Step 5 — Track property and loans

If you own property, add it to see its estimated value alongside any outstanding mortgage — keeping your net-worth figure accurate. Track other loans in the loans module for full visibility.

See Property tracking and Loan management.

Step 6 — Reports and exports

Run monthly and annual reports to review spending trends and net-worth movement. Export data for your financial adviser, tax preparer, or for your own records. Scheduled exports can be set up to keep documentation current automatically.

See Reports and Exporting your data.
