Fiscal Flowcast for Young Professionals
Fiscal Flowcast for Young Professionals
Starting your financial life can feel overwhelming — student loans, first salary, rent, and the pressure to save for the future all at once. Fiscal Flowcast gives you a single dashboard to see exactly where you stand and a clear path forward.
Step 1 — Set up your account and link your accounts
Get the full picture by connecting all of your financial accounts — checking, savings, credit cards, and any investment accounts — so your net worth and cash flow update automatically.
- Sign in and complete the onboarding checklist in the Dashboard.
- Go to Accounts and click Link account.
- Search for your bank or credit union and authorise the connection via Plaid.
- Repeat for every account you want to track.
See How to link your bank account and Account management.
Step 2 — Categorise your spending
Automatic categorisation gets you most of the way there. Spend a few minutes reviewing and correcting mis-categorised transactions after your first import — your reports and budgets will be far more useful.
Set up category rules for recurring payees (landlord, gym, streaming services) so future months are categorised without manual effort.
See Categorising transactions and Transaction tracking.
Step 3 — Build your first budget
A budget turns your spending history into a spending plan. Start with the biggest categories — rent, groceries, transport — then add discretionary categories (dining, entertainment) once you can see your baseline.
- Go to Budgets and create your first monthly budget.
- Fiscal Flowcast shows your spend-to-budget ratio in real time so you can course-correct mid-month.
See Budgets.
Step 4 — Track your student loans and debt
Add each loan (student, personal, car) as a loan in Fiscal Flowcast. You'll see outstanding balances, amortisation schedules, and how extra payments accelerate your payoff date.
See Loan management.
Step 5 — Set financial goals
Whether it's an emergency fund, a house deposit, or a first investment account — attach a goal to a savings account so you can track progress and see exactly when you'll reach your target at your current savings rate.
See Financial goals.
Step 6 — Forecast your financial future
Add your salary and regular bills as recurring transactions, then use the forecast view to project your cash position weeks or months ahead. You'll spot months where cash runs tight before they arrive.
See Financial forecasting and Recurring transactions.
