Set up calendar and cash-flow budgeting
Calendar and cash-flow budgeting is about when money arrives and when it goes out. You add your paydays and bill due dates; we show you a calendar or list so you can see if you'll have enough on the right days.
Steps
- Add your income (paydays). Go to Recurring transactions (or Transactions). Add a recurring Income transaction for each payday—e.g. "Paycheck" on the 1st and 15th, or "Freelance pay" monthly. That tells the app when money is coming in.
- Add bills with due dates. Add recurring transactions for your main bills (rent, utilities, subscriptions). If the app supports it, set the due day (e.g. rent on the 1st, card payment on the 15th). Otherwise, use the recurrence date so we know when the money goes out.
- Open the Cash flow or Calendar view. Go to Cash flow or Calendar (from the menu or dashboard). You'll see expected income and bills by date for the next 30 days (or the month). Use it to see "will I have enough on the 15th?" and plan around tight spots.
- Optional: link to your budget. When you create or edit a budget, you can use "Use expected income from cash flow" (if available) to fill in your budget amount from the income we expect in that period. Then use your normal budget split or manual lines.
You're all set. Your calendar reflects when money is in and when it's out. Check it at the start of each month and before big expenses so you're never surprised.
